Ballet in Small Spaces (BiSS) makes and presents ballet based work for small and unconventional spaces in response to its local environment. As well as refining an understanding of ballet's form and expression, it aims to reach out to a wider audience, tapping into local enthusiasm for dance through performances, classes and projects, and drawing in dancers at all stages of development from young students to mature professionals. BiSS is run by Susie Crow, Oxford based dance artist, choreographer and teacher.
Susie Crow is a Trustee for the Exuberant Trust. Susie also brought the Commedia project to fruition for the Exuberant Trust in 2011, as part of her new dance works Inside Out and Commedia, which was imagined by and in memory of theatre director Sebastian Graham-Jones.
Flash of Splendour Arts is a pioneering children's creative arts organisation, working with music, literature and poetry, the visual arts and theatre. It is dedicated to fostering creativity and self-determination in children and young adults and has expertise in working with teenagers with autism and learning disabilities and, more recently, Refugee and Asylum Seeker Young People.
Flash of Spendour Arts is run by founders Steve Pratley and Anne Avery. Steve Pratley is a Trustee of the Exuberant Trust and Anne Avery has helped with publicity and has supported the running of the Trust on numerous occassions.
The Pavlova Quintet was formed in 1999 by a group of Abingdon- and Oxford- based musicians and teachers who share a wish to explore the more unusual and exciting areas of the wind quintet repertoire. They are an Oxfordshire-based group, performing a range of popular classical and light music from baroque to twentieth century. As well as concert performances, The Pavlova Quintet also provide background music of all kinds and are available for all occasions: weddings, parties, corporate functions etc.
The Pavlova Quintet have delighted Exuberant Trust supporters on more than one occasion, by performing in fundraising concerts.
Trio Sospiroso feature Flute, Harp and Viola, and play music from the late 19th century to the present day, with a varied repertoire including Debussy, Ravel, Bizet, Paul Lewis, Sally Beamish, Edward Watson. Trio Sospiroso are based in the Newbury/Reading area and are pleased to perform at Music Societies, Festivals and other concerts throughout southern England.
The Exuberant Trust is extremely grateful to Trio Sospiroso, for presenting a fundraising concert at one of the 'Music at the Limes' series of concerts on 4 November 2007.
Award-winners Idle Motion are a young theatre company, formed five years ago in Oxford and who have created several pieces of physical and highly visual theatre. They work collaboratively to devise their productions, embracing the unknown and using play, workshops and improvisation to form their ideas and pieces.
Macamu is a collective of musicians who specialise in music for children and are professional performers who teach and lead music in schools and the community. Playing lots of different instruments and spanning many musical styles, Macamu explore and introduce children to a range of musical styles in a fun and accessible way, combining original live music, story telling, handmade puppets, beautiful costumes and set and lots of singing and actions.
Macamu also lead music workshops for children and their families and give children an opportunity to learn new songs together, make an instrument and even have a go at songwriting. Based in Oxford, Macamu have had many successful shows and workshops and are currently available for bookings in schools, theatres and festivals. The Exuberant Trust were delighted to help Macamu with a grant to help purchase a new puppet for their shows and were treated to free tickets for two fantastic performance at The Pegasus Theatre, Oxford in January 2013.
Sole Rebel Tap are a professional performing company devising tap dance with a Contemporary twist and co-founded by award-winner Hannah De Cancho.
Tom Poster is internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry and versatility, equally in demand as soloist and chamber musician across an unusually extensive repertoire. Tom was extremely generous and waived his fee at a fundraising concert for the Exuberant Trust on 25th November 2012.
Multi-Story is a project that brings classical music to unexpected places, run by composer and pianist Kate Whitley and conductor Christopher Stark. It began in 2011 with a performance of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring for 100 musicians in a Car Park in Peckham Rye, London. The Multi-Story Orchestra plays in the Car Park every summer as well as touring schools, playing in night clubs, and running choir and education projects across the country.
Kate Whitley is a former award-winner of and has performed in aid of the Exuberant Trust on many occasions..
The OxOnArts website has been developed by the Arts Officers from all the local authorities in Oxfordshire. It is an online resource and community for artists, makers, practitioners, arts organisations and communities who want to engage with the arts further.
It is free to use and to become a member and provides an extensive advertising platform for 'What's On' events and 'Opportunities 'in Oxfordshire. In addition, OxOnArts has a Resources section and an extensive Directory of artists, individuals and organisations in Oxfordshire.
